ABOUT THE ARTIST:
Miami-based artist, LAURENCE GARTEL has pioneered Digital Media Arts for over 35 years. Applying digital art to his "car as canvas" concept, Gartel has spent the last few years focusing on ART CARS. His commissioned creations include: Tesla Electric Art Roadster, Ferrari Scuderia 430, Rolls Royce Spirit, 1957 Lincoln Premiere Convertible, 1959 Fleetwood Cadillac Limousine, and 1963 Chevy Pick Up among others [in the production line] shown at the Dupont Registry VIP JetPort Event in conjunction with the Boca Raton Concours D' Elegance.
Gartel's well-received "Auto Motion" Exhibition was cataloged with a luxury-class book of the same name, followed by his "Supercars" series. "Auto Motion" continues screening on BBC Big Screens across Britain, Australia, and around the globe. http://www.gartelautomotion.com/welcome.html
A fixture in the luxury car event circuit, Gartel will appear in the 2012 character-driven film Fireball Run: "Northern Exposure" and its "Live Streaming Event", as special invited Guest-Star. Gartel is honored to support the charitable contributions of this event, sponsoring and finding MISSING CHILDREN.
Gartel has worked with numerous icons of the art, film, sports, and music worlds, giving their images his special touch. As the "FATHER" of Digital Art," his works have appeared in countless magazines from Artforum to Forbes; he was featured in an Apple Computer "Think Different" ad, as well as creating art for ABSOLUT Vodka, Coca Cola, National Basketball Association, and other top brands. He has authored several books, and has been he subject of endless articles. The toast of South Beach, the impresario is equally well-known for his parties, cultural events and community service.
His work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, Joan Whitney Payson Museum, Long Beach Museum of Art, Princeton Art Museum, PS 1, Norton Museum, Palm Beach Photographic Center and in the permanent collections of the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History, Bibliotheque Nationale Paris and the Victoria and Albert (V&A) Museum, London. He appears in "Who's Who," "Who's Who in the East," "Who's Who in America," "Who's Who in American Art," and "Who's Who in the World." He has appeared in many artbooks, videos, and performance venues, as well as TV and film.

Gartel taught Andy Warhol how to use the Amiga Computer, when he received the commission to produce the cover of Debbie Harry's (Blondie) album cover. Gartel had many associations with musicians such as Debbie Harry (Blonde) Sid Vicious (Sex Pistols), Stiv Bators (Dead Boys) Johnny Thunders (New York Dolls) Ace Frehley (Kiss) and Wendy O Williams (Plasmatics). Recently, Gartel has created artwork for such Pop Culture stars such as Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. His ABSOLUT GARTEL commission for Absolut Vodka is perhaps his most well known artwork gracing the pages of "ART-IN-AMERICA," "Artforum," "Sothebys," "Art and Auction,""Art and Antiques," "ArtByte," "Scientific American," "Technology Review," "WIRED," & "NY Magazine". GARTEL created the first Digital Art Cover for FORBES Magazine. Steve Jobs commissioned GARTEL to produce a "Think different" ad for APPLE Computer in the company of Golda Meier, Jackie Robinson, Jim Henson, Pablo Picasso and Gandhi.
